Startup Funeral
Every founder hears the success stories. This session gives a proper send-off to the ones that did not make it.
Hosted in full funeral style, with the host dressed as a priest, founders will stand up and read a eulogy to a business they lost. They will share what happened, what went wrong, what they learned too late, and what they would do differently now.
It will be honest, slightly theatrical and genuinely useful. Not failure theatre, but a candid look at the decisions, pressures and turning points that can quietly kill a business.
Expect dark humour, uncomfortable truths and hard-won lessons from founders who have been there.
Who should attend?
This session is for founders, startup teams, investors, advisers and anyone working closely with early-stage or scaling businesses. It will be especially useful for founders who are making difficult decisions, facing pressure, navigating uncertainty, or trying to understand what really causes promising businesses to fail.
Why attend?
Because the most useful lessons are not always found in the success stories.
Startup Funeral gives founders the chance to hear honest, unfiltered accounts of businesses that did not survive. Through eulogies, dark humour and practical reflection, the session will explore the decisions, assumptions, warning signs and pressures that contributed to failure.
You will leave with a clearer sense of what to watch for, what to challenge earlier, and what experienced founders would do differently if they had their time again.
